I have been working dogs in harness for 10 years, have been running a sled dog welfare organisation for 9 years, and believe that appropriate exercise is paramount to a dog’s welfare. I hold qualifications in Dog Training and Behaviour and am currently a student member of APDT (Ireland) I regularly attend seminars and training days to ensure I am up to date with current, science based, ethical training methods. I am a qualified Canine First Responder and have a FETAC level 5 Occupational First Aid qualification
I was a founder member and Chairperson of an Irish sled dog club and have organised and hosted sled dog events in Ireland, including the first ever canicross race held here in 2010. Amongst my own doggy family I have Siberian Huskies, an Alaskan Malamute and some husky crosses. Most of my dogs came into my care as rescues looking for homes, but have just never been adopted, however most of them love working in harness and 6 have Working Trek Dog Titles. I am happiest in a forest with just the sounds of the dogs, their jingling collars, paws softly hitting the ground and the wheels of the rig turning.
